和裁と針展｜wasai.exhibit

着物をアートとして焦点を当てました。

針や手縫い、そのものの美しさと向き合う3日間。

——かつて「体＝マシンだった時代」。

電気も要らず、極限まで無駄を省いた衣服の在り方。

和裁とは、ただ縫うだけではなく、

布と人との対話であり、

職人の手仕事の奥にある美意識そのものです——

We placed the spotlight on the kimono as an art form. Three days of engaging with the beauty of the needle, of hand stitching itself.

—A time when the body was regarded as a “machine.” Clothing that required no electricity, designed with every ounce of waste eliminated. Washai, traditional Japanese dressmaking, is not merely about sewing. It is a dialogue between fabric and the human body, and an embodiment of the aesthetic consciousness that lies within the artisan’s handwork.

展示内容 Exhibition Contents

  • 和裁とは何か What is Washai?
    縫い目「だけ」を見せるコンセプチュアルアート。はたして和裁は「キモノ」と無関係に成立するのか？
    （制作：芝崎るみ）
  • A conceptual art piece that reveals only the stitches. Can washai (traditional Japanese dressmaking) exist independently from the kimono? (Created by Rumi Shibasaki)
  • 和裁の縫い目 Stitches in Washai
    ぐしぬい・とじ・くけ・・・普段は隠れている縫い跡を拡大レンズで展示。
    （協力：東京都和裁技能士会）
  • Gushinui, toji, kuke… Stitches normally hidden are displayed through magnifying lenses. (In cooperation with the Tokyo Washai Artisans’ Association)
  • 縫い針の歴史 – 中世から現在
    The History of Sewing Needles – From the Middle Ages to the Present
    5万年前の骨の針から、現代・広島の針産地まで。資料を通して針の歴史を辿ります。
  • Tracing the history of needles through materials, from bone needles 50,000 years ago to the modern needle-making industry in Hiroshima.
  • 番外編 – 手縫いの現在 Special Feature – Hand Sewing Today
    七梅【繕いの会】木村恵美子作品、「天誅履物店」山田太一作品を展示。
  • Works on display include pieces by Emiko Kimura (Tsunai no Kai) and Taichi Yamada (Tenchu Footwear).
